I just got this pad and tried it out today. I was so excited I actually found a pad that fit my saddle with dropped front rigging. I have the Sheridan Circle Y so it's been a bit tough to find a pad. It wasn't quite as soft feeling as I hoped it would but it seems pretty good quality. I also was under the assumption that it was black with brown leathers but it's actually a dark brown wool as well with flecks of other colors. We walked around the pasture twice in it and he seemed quite comfortable. I didn't try any other gaits so I can't tell you how that was. I did like how it conformed to his shape quite quickly. I also liked how light it was. As a woman with not much muscle I can really appreciate that as well : ) Is this testimonial helpful?

Use this pad for trail riding and we ride long hours on gaited and non gaited horses. Real wool pads work great and this pad is a great value. Since we use endurance saddles, this pad is a little longer than I would like, would love to see a 30"-32" pad Is this testimonial helpful?

I bought an expensive high end saddle pad (over 200 bucks) that I really liked, but it rubbed my horse at the hips and on long trail rides would leave bare spots on his hips. I later found out the high end pad was a mixture of wool and synthetic material and was pretty rough feeling.
So I went looking a great pad that was 100% wool and made for the trail. I looked at all the pads costing over 200 dollars and came back to this one. For the money, I decided to take a chance and order it without any reviews or knowing anyone who had purchased one.
It arrived this week and I could not be happier. Looks very nice under the saddle and color is really nice (mostly black/grey with hint of dark brown). This is a very well designed pad, great compression since its 100% real wool, sits under a trail saddle perfectly (I have a Circle Y Park and Trail), rounded corners, conforms to the horse's back without a break-in period, and limits saddle roll just like the expensive pads. Also has a cut out for the withers which is not seen in the picture.
The contour design really puts the pad where it is needed and makes leg cues a breeze. This is a really really nice pad for the money! I highly recommend and am selling my expensive pad. Is this testimonial helpful?
