Quality has changed! Years ago after a car accident I bought this back support to use when horseback riding. It served me well for years until I could again ride without it. At that point I gave it to my Father to use. After another car accident I found myself needing it again for horseback riding. It still works fine but the fit is not as good as before and it is not as comfortable as the one I had bought many years ago. The quality is just not the same!

I first became acquainted with the Professional's Choice Low Back Support at a Quarter Horse Show in February 1989. I had just had major lower back surgery in August 1988 on L3 and L5 and they left L4 herniated so that I would not have to have a low back fusion. I did not recover very well and Physical Therapy didn't help at all. I had a myleogram in November of '88 and it showed that I had re-ruptured the L5 disc again, but they were trying to put off the surgery until the Summer of 1989. I was told by all of my doctor's that I would never ride my horses again! I thought my life was over. I kept working on the physical therapy and they tried every kind of back brace available to them on the market at that time. None of them worked.
In February 1989, I went to a Quarter Horse show in Germantown, Tennessee. I couldn't ride so I went down to watch and help out if I could. I walked by this vendor's booth and saw this thing that looked like a brace. I stopped to talk with him and he was a rep from Professional's Choice. He explained how the braces neoprene sides wicked away any perspiration to the thicker pad that centers on your lower back and spine to act like a warm, moist heating pad on your lower back. The two additional side straps, one goes up high the other goes low for added support. He told me that you can wear them under your clothes or on top you get the same effect. He told me to wear the low back support all day and see how I liked it and if it didn't do what he said and I didn't like it I didn't have to buy it. I wore it all day and WOW! My back felt great! It didn't feel tired, stiff or any of the other stuff like I felt with the braces I got from Physical Therapy. So at the end of the day I went back to the rep and told him I would take it.
I had a doctor's appointment the following week and I took the support with me to show my Neurosurgeon. Now, if anyone has ever dealt with one, you know they are hard to convince about anything. I told him about it, just like I told you, he looked at it (forwards, backwards etc.) and he even liked it and wrote me a prescription for it to send to my insurance company so I could be reimbursed for the cost.
Since 1989, the physical therapists have tried to come up with a copy of the Professional's Choice version and they don't even come close. I know because a new doctor gave me one.
Oh, before I close my review, my son-in-law who has scoliosis, who is also in the Marine Corps, is riding his motorcycle more now to go to work because of the gas prices. He uses my Professional's Choice low back support to keep his back from hurting so much. When he was riding motocross he used it and he said it kept his back straight and kept it from jarring so bad.
So for me and my family we will pick Professional's Choice low back support for our use. Is this testimonial helpful?
