One of my horses cut the back of his foot last year and while the wound was being treated with antibiotics and healing well, it was healing very, very slowly (over 6 months!!)and producing a lot (about 1/2 inch thick!!) of "proud flesh". I recently brought home a neglected horse with the biggest horse bite that I have ever encountered. It was about 10 inches tall and 2-3 inches wide and literally "skinned" his left side. The bite was weeping and the edges were rough and starting to scar and heal badly.
