(PRN Pharmaceutical) CitraVet contains Potassium Citrate for dogs and cats prone to recurring calcium oxalate stones or low urine pH. Pets at risk for stones produce calcium and oxalate, which can lead to stone formation. CitraVet increases citrate levels in the bladder. Calcium then binds to the citrate instead of the oxalate. Other less common stones, such as urate and cystine, may be controlled by the same mechanism. Each liver-flavored chewable tablet contains 675 mg Potassium Citrate. To help manage urinary tract disorders, CitraVet may be offered orally or crumbled over food. Recommended dosage, given every 12 hours: 1/4 tablet per 5 lbs. body weight, 1/2 tablet per 11 lbs., 1 tablet per 22 lbs. Potassium Citrate.
