How it works:
Adequan Canine contains polysulfated glycosaminoglycans, which are used by the body to make cartilage. When injected intramuscularly, it helps promote the formation of healthy cartilage and joint fluid and supports the body's natural joint repair process.
What you should know:
Adequan Canine can improve the signs associated with arthritis, but multiple injections may be necessary to achieve maximum results. Syringes and needles must be purchased separately.
How to give this medication:
Adequan Canine is given by intramuscular injection only. The recommended dose of Adequan Canine is 2 mg/lb body weight (.02 ml/lb), by intramuscular injection, twice weekly for up to 4 weeks. Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions, ask the veterinarian or pharmacist to explain them to you.
If you miss a dose:
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember.
Adequan Canine should not be used in:
Adequan Canine should not be used in dogs with hypersensitivity to polysulfated glycosaminoglycans or in dogs with bleeding disorders. The safe use of Adequan Canine in pregnant dogs, dogs used for breeding purposes, or in lactating bitches has not been established.
Possible side effects:
The use of Adequan Canine may result in transient pain at the injection site, diarrhea and abnormal bleeding. If you observe any of these side effects, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
