Neoprene Hock Sweat Boots are a great quality and for a great price. My only complaints would be the X Large won't fit most draft hocks. Approx sizes should be given BUT ... I bought some industrial strength velcro at a local Walmart that was the same width.(I think it was like $5 ) Sewed it on with some fishing string (stronger)and made my own extensions ! The now fit and even with having to do that; these were a great deal and purchase! My drafts hocks are healing from when she would lay down on them. PERFECT. Highly recommend. These hock boots look like they're made really well and look like they would stay on well, but unfortunately my horse hates them :(. He rubs his hocks when he gets up and down, so I thought this would be the perfect solution, but he just wouldn't have any of it. I put the hock boots on really loose just to see how he would handle it, but he wouldn't even walk in them. When I finally got him to take a step he kicked out, which he doesn't ever do. I worked with him for about an hour, trying all different levels of tightness and he never warmed up to them (he actually almost fell over a couple of times trying to get the boots off). He may eventually get used to them, but I don't feel comfortable leaving him alone with them on. So if your horse is iffy about his hocks (which apparently mine is) then these boots might not be a good choice as they cover the entire hock joint and may feel particularly constricting. I needed boots for protection of my horse's hocks. He is white and loves to sleep lying down. It would never fail that the week before a show and AT a show, he would scrape open his hocks. Not only did they look sore and painful, but being white made it harder to clean up.
The quality of these boots is excellent! The neoprene is top rate and the stitching is clean and strong. Lots of Velcro and they stay on! Excellent value for the price. I would even have paid $10.00 more for the pair, they are that great a quality. Is this testimonial helpful?
