What is Atopica for Cats used for?
Atopica for Cats is used for the control of feline atopic dermatitis (skin allergies) and self-induced alopecia.

How it works:
Atopica contains cyclosporine, which suppresses the immune system. It is used to treat skin-related conditions by targeting the immune cells involved in the allergic reaction.

It may take several weeks for maximum results to be achieved.
How to give this medication:
Atopica for Cats is a liquid. It should be administered directly on food, or orally just after feeding. Do not rinse or clean the oral dosing syringe between uses. The initial dose is 3.2 mg/lb./day (1/3 ml for a 10 lb. cat) given as a single daily dose for a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks, or until resolution of clinical signs. The dispensing system includes an oral dosing syringe graduated in 1 lb. increments. Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions, ask the veterinarian or pharmacist to explain them to you.
If you miss a dose:
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and give the next one as directed. Do not double dose.
Atopica should not be used in:
Do not use in cats with a history of malignant disorders or suspected malignance. Do not use in cats infected with feline leukemia virus (FeLV) or feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), or in cats with a hypersensitivity to cyclosporine.
Possible side effects:
Side effects may include loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, lethargy, behavioral disorders, sneezing or conjunctivitis. If you observe any of these side effects, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
