The condition referred to as "hay belly" is often an abdomen infested with encysted strongyles, and may not be properly treated with regular deworming. In many climates, the most advantageous times for use are spring and fall, to eliminate the horse's worm load before and after exposure to pasture.
Each Safe-Guard Power-Dose treatment contains 5 double-dose syringes of fenbendazole for the control of large strongyles, encysted early third stage, late third stage and fourth stage cyathostome larvae, small strongyles, pinworms, ascarids and arteritis caused by 4th stage larvae of Strongylus vulgaris in horses. Administer 1 syringe per 1250 lbs daily for 5 consecutive days. Apple-cinnamon flavor.

Great Stuff I bought this because I knew my horse was wormy and I had been using other stuff. It wasn't working all that well. When I read about this and I could give them the power dose with no problem. I decided to try it WOW what a difference. I could tell a difference before I finished the 5 day regimen. He is back to his old self again. He hasn't looked that good for a while. I will never be without this ever. IT WORKS

Safeguard is super safe and the worms that this kills are causing more damage than folks realize. I've used this double dose on pregnant mares, young foals and everything in betweeen with only great results. You babies will no longer have that ribby, hay belly look. A mature gelding of mine had colic 3 times before this treatment and not once in all the years we owned him afterwards. A very knowledgable friend who had owned horses all her life and was even a vet tech saw this treatment "prescribed" after a horse that was in training with her had many blood tests and other expenses because the owner knew something was wrong. This fixed the problems! Why not do this first and save the vet costs? If money is a huge issue and you have lots of equines to do, check out a compounding pharmacy. You will save money but not enough to be worth the extra trouble if you just have a few head to do. NOTE: This doesn't get tape worms or bots. Hate to say it but the single dose safeguard is almost useless. Do this power pack type dose at least once (twice would be best) per year, April 1st and Oct 1st. It could save your horse's life. Colic is one of the leading causes of death in horses and worms cause colic. Is this testimonial helpful?
