To determine moisture content, sample is weighed and then dried repeatedly until there is no change in the sample weight from one drying to the next. The change in weight (grams) from the initial sample to the dry sample represents the moisture content. Typical total drying time ranges from 20-30 minutes for hay, silage oats and wheat; 80-90 minutes for corn, rice and cotton.
