Previcox for Dogs

(Merial) Previcox is used for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery in dogs. Previcox Chewable Tablets contain firocoxib, a coxib-class, non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). The recommended dosage of Previcox Chewable Tablets is 2.27 mg/lb of body weight once daily. Previcox Chewable Tablets can be administered with or without food. Firocoxib.

I buy my dog's Previcox through Valley Vet because it is the best price in the market. Â This is an expensive medication for canine arthritis. Â Without it, my dog cannot move. Â This product has given my 12 year old dog more life. Â 12 years is too soon to lose my best companion. The tablets areÂ chew-ableÂ and my finicky dog eats them in his food. It has been a wonder to see my dog go fromÂ strugglingÂ to a sitting position to going for a mile and a half walk. Is this testimonial helpful?

I have a 12-year-old Golden Retriever, Sierra, who loves going everywhere with my mother. Sierra has been her shadow for 12 years. However, within the last two years, Sierra has been developing some arthritis that makes this difficult. She takes a long time to climb up and down the stairs, can't get in and out of the car without help, has trouble going up and down the hill in our backyard, and lags behind on walks. However, she still desperately wants to follow my mother, so she has been quite miserable. We recently started her on Previcox by our vet's recommendation, and all of a sudden she is bounding up and down the hill, energetic on walks, and is having an easier time getting in and out of the car and climbing stairs. I am glad that we have found something to improve her quality of life for the sadly little time she has left. The one word of caution I will say is that it gave her an upset stomach if we gave it to her even just a few minutes after she got her dinner. She does have a very sensitive stomach, but just be careful to give it with food! Is this testimonial helpful?

My 12.5 year old lab has major hip dysplasia and reached a point where he had difficulty even getting up from a laying position. We took him for an orthopedic consultation where he was also diagnosed with considerable leg muscle loss. He was prescribed with Previcox and Tramadol (for pain)and can now get up and down without difficulty (although still some stiffness) and can enjoy short walks. He also has weekly underwater treadmill therapy that has helped as well. I hope others will fine Previcox to be a help for their older family members too. At least whatever days he has left will be less painful. Is this testimonial helpful?

Our golden retriever is 14 1/2 years old and recently started on Previcox. (about 85#) He was doing too well and I had to cut the tablets in half so he didn't injure himself, he thought he could jump off the patio silly dog! He had ACL surgery at 11 1/2 years and had a lot of arthritis at that time. But the aspirin we had been using were starting to not help as much and I worried about his stomach. If he over does something one day and is stiffer than usual we might give him the other dose of his tablet. He is never going to be very active again - but if this will help him in his senior years be more comfortable while getting around then it is well worth it. I really like the fact that I can get this product here and it is $60 cheaper than my vet. Is this testimonial helpful?

My dog is 12.5 years old, 86 lbs and dianosed with hip dysplasia. She has been on previcox for 1 year with remarkable results. I have tried some of the other prescription medications and this one, although not the cheapest, has helped her the most. She does not have any side effects after one year and her liver enzymes have remained stable. She is a little slower than in her youth, (remember, she is about 80 in human years) but she can still trot around, get up and down and climb a stairs. I am very happy to see her comfortable again. Before the previcox, she was at one point in enough pain to be snappish if touched, and that has totally stopped and she is back to her loving self. I also like the fact that this medication is only given once a day instead of twice a day. I hope this testimonial helps others who are wondering if this is the right medication for their dog.
