A fellow distance rider told me about a solution for the common problem of getting the Bares on. REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEEL STRAP. It makes putting the boots on VERY VERY easy (you probably will need to tighten the bungie to compensate for the expanded space). I was concerned that because it was so easy getting them on that they were now too loose and would cause my horse's heels to get rubbed by the gaiter, but it hasn't caused a problem. These boots work very well and seem comfortable for the horse. I got them to transition my horse to barefoot. Her feet were so sore from the farrier thinning her soles too much that she could barely walk but these allowed her to be ridden and turned out so she exercised. Definitely get the pads for them, and a spare set of gaiters, though. The gaiters are a great idea but are flimsy and tear easily, and the boots are useless without them.
