Although the Easyboot Bare is a little harder to apply than the standard Easyboot Epic, it provides a simple and close-fitting boot that constantly adjusts to the hoof. The boot upper and sole are designed to stretch and flex, mimicking the movements of the natural barefoot horse.

I tried out my first set of Bare's yesterday. As others have said, they're hard to get on. They performed as advertised except they did not give good traction on wet rocks. My horse had a bad slip when crossing a stream. The bottom of the stream consisted of fairly flat large boulders. The slip almost set him on his rear. I am going to order the metal studs and hopefully they will help. After the slip, I remembered when I tried to use rubber soled waders and they did not give good traction. It's why trout fishermen use felt soled waders. Is this testimonial helpful?

Good product, could be better

These boots work very well and seem comfortable for the horse. I got them to transition my horse to barefoot. Her feet were so sore from the farrier thinning her soles too much that she could barely walk but these allowed her to be ridden and turned out so she exercised. Definitely get the pads for them, and a spare set of gaiters, though. The gaiters are a great idea but are flimsy and tear easily, and the boots are useless without them. The velcro that goes around the ankles is too short and wimpy and comes undone easily, so I wrap duct tape over it around her ankles so it stays shut and the boots stay on, and have not lost one since I started doing that. For as easy as they come off if the gaiter comes undone, these boots are pretty hard to get on, I have to use a rubber mallet to pound them onto my mare's feet, but I do think it's worth the effort. Finally figured out how to make the Bares work

A fellow distance rider told me about a solution for the common problem of getting the Bares on. REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEEL STRAP. It makes putting the boots on VERY VERY easy (you probably will need to tighten the bungie to compensate for the expanded space). I was concerned that because it was so easy getting them on that they were now too loose and would cause my horse's heels to get rubbed by the gaiter, but it hasn't caused a problem. And when I feel really paranoid, I just use vet wrap to wrap his heels and pastern. I just took my horse riding in the Colorado mountains and used Bares on his fronts for some extremely rugged riding, and they performed very well. The Epics we used on the other horses for the rides got more 'beat up' by all the rock because of their exposed metal parts, but the Bares still look great. I'm going to order a smaller size for my horse's rear hooves and then I'll have a totally 'Bare' horse. Is this testimonial helpful?
