Official safety certification of equestrian safety helmets in the United States. Troxel manufactures only ASTM/SEI certified helmets. The Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) is an independent, accredited organization that certifies the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards are met. The ASTM F1163 standard for equestrian head gear has been revised numerous times since its initial publication in 1988. Each revision reflects ASTM's technical committee's ongoing effort to clarify, correct or improve the standard and provide consistency in testing. A helmet which has been ASTM certified to an earlier edition (e.g., ASTM F1163-01) remains certified even though newer models are always certified to the most recent edition.

After much hounding by my English riding friend, and after taking a couple of spills off my gelding, I finally decided the smart thing to do would be to purchase a helmet. The first two were not very comfortable, but when I found the Dakota Duratec, I knew I wouldn't have to be reminded to wear a helmet anymore. It's comfortable, it's much cooler for the Arizona climate with the wide open vents, and the pony tail "hole" is ideal for those of us with thick hair. A great helmet! Is this testimonial helpful?

I have owned and used a bunch of helmets since 1976, and this is the best all around helmet for non show use I have experienced....I have a wide oval as opposed to long oval skull shape, and have always had to "adapt" other helmets to fit to keep from having pressure on the sides of my head and massive headaches....I ride in mountainous terrain for hours on end, and this helmet fits superbly and after hours, my head doesn't hurt.....The harness arrangement is also great, and accommodates my hair in a pony tail very well....I hope they never quit making this helmet! I am ordering another to keep just in case!! Is this testimonial helpful?
