Succeed Paste 2013-06-08 Terrabite 5 Slow, but sure changes! I have two horses that I recently started supplementing with Succeed. Â One is six year old, very gassy Holsteiner mare, and the other is a 14 year old OTTB gelding, who displays signs of long-term gastric ulcers and hindgut issues. Â I'm three weeks into using Succeed, having done both a.m. and p.m. dosing for the first week. Â In addition, I have eliminated all sweet/textured feeds, and feed these two horses only Triple Crown Lite (fortified, but grain free and molasses free) and soaked beet pulp (and of course good quality grass hay), and I am seeing improvement beginning to manifest. Â The gassiness in my mare is much reduced, and her manure is more consistent in quantity and shape. Â My OTTB does not aggressively throw his feed on the ground anymore, his gut noises are no longer loud and angry sounding, and this morning he's no longer cribbing after his meal. Â Now that the horses on just one dose per day, I do give them Uckel's G.U.T. in their evening meal. Â (I like this supplement because it is NOT an antacid, it contains a broad spectrum of healing ingredients and a little additional pro & prebiotic support--and is inexpensive.) I chose this slow, no omeprazole nor ranitidine, long-term approach to ensure my horses do not suffer a "rebound" affect from me trying to *control* the acid, which seemed more likely that I would perpetuate GI imbalances rather than encouraging them to correct themselves and allow the horses to heal their systems--and hopefully be able to adapt better to stress--and not have to worry about repeated interventions of medications. It's a heart-warming relief to see these very positive changes occurring within this window of time, which is when I would expect to see good healing progress and soundness return after any other kind of moderate to severe injury. Â And, yes, it's expensive for the long-term, but there are offsets in that it improves the efficacy of other nutrients and supplements.
