A Great Product For Protecting Hoof Bandages

My horse has had several hoof abcesses over the years and every time, I'm so thankful to have this slipper on hand. It's made of super tough nylon with a 1/4 inch thick sewn-on leather sole that not only keeps bandages clean and dry, but helps your bandaging last much longer. It opens up very wide, so it's extremely easy to get on and off, and fits nicely over bandages. I've more than gotten my money out of this product and once you use it, you'll see why it's so great to keep on hand. PS - Don't use it outside unless it's in a confined paddock that's dry, (remember the sole is leather, so it will absorb dampness), and only for short periods of time. Is this testimonial helpful?

I've had this boot for YEARS. I got the large size about ten years ago and have used it for both of my horses, most recently during rehab from a nail in the hoof. Although they say not to, I've turned them out in it (but like the previous review--not is wet, slippery weather!) The velcro straps don't stay very well, so I do a couple of go-arounds with vetrap, but then you're good to go. I have to finally get a new one because the stitching is coming apart. But it's been a great ride! Is this testimonial helpful?

Great slipper

I have a horse with a front hoof that required an extensive resection by the vet. I am required to pack the hoof with iodine and cotton every other day. This slipper works great to keep the hoof clean and protected from dirt. I pack the hoof with cotton, use one layer of tape, and then I slip on the slipper. I keep my horse stalled with a small outside run. The slipper is lasting on its 4th week now. Great item! Is this testimonial helpful?

I've got an elderly chronically laminitic mare, and in all my years of packing, poulticing and otherwise treating sore or abscessed feet, I haven't found anything I like as well as the Equine Slipper. It couldn't be simpler to get on and off; it's also easy to clean. It's durable and rugged, and stands up fine to stall use. Though the manufacturer doesn't recommend it for turnout I have done so in dry weather (it offers no traction so DO NOT do this in slippery conditions) with a not-too-tight strip of Vetrap or Elastikon over the hook-and-loop closures, and it's worked fantastically for protecting sore feet or securing poultices -- much, much better than the old duct-tape boot, for sure! Turnout will tear the slipper up a LOT faster, though, so if you can keep your horse up in it that's the best -- but me, I just have to let the old gal out to toddle around the barnyard and paddock because it's good for her soul. Anyway, I have two sizes and have found that if I use the medium (she's a small) on her I can get the slipper on over an Animalintex pad and vetrap -- and like I said, it's SO MUCH EASIER than the old duct-tape boot method (it also holds up better)! Anyway, I really love these things. I've tried three different kinds of poultice boots, but for my purposes the Equine Slipper is the easiest, fastest, and most elegant solution. I also like that the horse's foot can breathe with the slipper. We love these things!!!! Is this testimonial helpful?
