Free Head Horse Collar is A Great Product
Posted By: N. CHABANAIS (SLIDELL, LA) Dec 11, 2012

While I was looking for yet another halter I found this. I decided to try it. It has worked so well. She was breaking halters all the time plus all the missing hair all over her face. The end once buckled on her neck was too long so I cut is shorter and just melted the edge of the nylon. I recommend this highly. I leave it on her when I bridle her so its a lot less work as well.

Great product

I love this product. My horse often refuses to be caught with a halter. He jumps away before you can get it on. If he is turned out with a halter, it is often pulled off by the time I go to get him. If he is without a halter then I use this collar. He is willing to let me put this on unlike a halter.

We bought a few of these earlier this summer and tried them. We hate to leave halters on our mares because they are too easy to lose or get caught on. We have found these to work perfect. Excellent in the cross ties too so we can clip their heads without having to move the halter around their neck to get at the jaw and halter path. Only thing we found that we needed to correct was the loose fitting strap end. Other horses wanted to chew on them. We simply took black rubber tape and wrapped around the end. Worked perfect. We are buying enough for all of our pastures horses now!

Free Head Horse Collars
Posted By: ezryder (WETUMPKA, AL) Mar 19, 2008

I am always being asked what these collars are on my horses and I am always happy to tell people. I have owned horses for over 20 years and I have always had one of these collars on each of my horses. (And I've never had a horse get hung up with one either - they are in the pasture 24/7) Three reasons I love these halters: first - makes it so much easier to catch the horse in the pasture and lead him to the barn using the excess strap as the lead rope. Second - they are better than using a halter in the cross ties since horses don't seem to like the weight of the cross ties on their nose when attached to the halter rings. Third - when I go to horse shows I am always by myself. My horses have been trained to stand tied to the trailer using the neck collar while I mount. I reach down, unbuckle the collar and go ride!

I have found these collars to be wonderful. My horses are in a 20 acre field and they like to play. They pull the halters off each other and they are VERY hard to find in that large area. With the collars, they still play but can't get them over their heads. They do break if they get caught but not as easily as a break-away halter. The only draw back I have had, was a VERY old horse that I had to stall because of the winter cold. She was 36 and she got the metal buckle stuck on a piece of wood that was sticking out in the barn. She could not break the metal buckle and it was hard to get her loose. Cott
