Nice ointment for soft sensitive horse skin
Posted By: RLMarler (BROKEN ARROW, OK) May 8, 2010
My TB gelding had gotten a lot of tick bites in a sensitive area, up at his inner thigh, butt cheeks and outer sheath. After the ticks were removed, he had a lot of sore bumps.
I tried several things from my first aid box - another ointment dripped too much, and didn't stay on long enough to heal anything. I liked this ointment the best. It has the consistency of petroleum jelly so sticks and smears nicely. It softened the skin and within three days I saw noticeable improvement.
However, cautionary note - it's gel will pick up dirt easily too.

Best wound salve I have found
Posted By: kkhart (MILL VALLEY, CA) Apr 16, 2009
I recommend this to everyone & people who try it are really pleased. Helps wounds heal without scars, infection or white spots. Kind of greasy, but really works well. One caution - the tea tree oil can make the skin sensitive to light and cause sunburns on pale horses.

Tea Tree ADE
Posted By: Horse Auntie (CARVER, MA) Jun 9, 2007
In addition to treating scrapes, etc. I've found this ointment most useful as a repellant against gnats & biting flies. I rub some on my horse's belly, between his hind legs and around his sheath and he has noticably fewer bites.
