Good hoof black
Posted By: Arabian Cowgril (HALLSVILLE, MO) Sep 21, 2008
I've used Supershine and other hoof blacks for several years. Though not my number one pick on my list I use it frequently as my number one choice is both expensive and diffiult to locate. It puts a fairly nice shine on hoofs and has a great deep black color. Unlike some, it doesn't flake off in a day so generally lasts the whole show. Will flake and chip after a few days and needs to be re-applied before the next horse show. It should be noted that all hoof blacks, this one included, do nothing for hoof health and actually dry out the horse's feet. I don't use it on horses with poor or dry hooves and prefer to remove it immediately after horse shows as it will seal over the foot and prevent hoof dressings/oils from penetrating.
