This is absolutely the best frisbee for any breed. I found that "hard" frisbees actually hurt the teeth and often make their gums bleed on very agressive catchers ( my Aussie, for example). She meets me each morning with a Flippy Flopper in her mouth, waiting for the morning game. Problem is, that's normally at 5:30 a.m., which is a bit dark on the beach to play. You can really make the Flopper sail on a straight line throw. I can't remember the last time my dog missed her catch. And you never "catch" her without it. She even sleeps with her Flippy Flopper. I order 2 about every 6 months, as we play religiously for an hour in the mornings and evenings. It's in her mouth when I get home, ready for another round. Am actually ordering 2 now. Thanks, Flippy Flopper!

Great frisbee ...
Posted By: Alistair Sinclair (SAN DIEGO, CA) Feb 23, 2010

I bought 3 of these from Valley Vet probably 9 months or a year ago. I have a 75 pound Aussie and a 25 pound border/terrier mix. The flippies are going strong; no damage despite HEAVY use, and what I really like is they are lightweight and have enough nylon fabric in the middle to create an air-catching dome. The more filthy and slobbered on they get, the better they are. You can throw high to catch air, or lower for more speed. Our Daisy is fast, but I try to throw into the wind so she can catch up to the flippy. We have a more expensive heavier toy similar to the flippy, with a flatter fabric in the middle ... it's too fast for Daisy, doesn't catch air well, and just 'ok' for Blue (our Aussie, he's fast), but generally flies too flat & fast. I also use flippys at the beach; sand and salt water have not damaged these at all, I don't even hose them off. Valley Vet has a great price ... I recommend you try 'em!

Love, love, LOVE the Floppers!
Posted By: Jan, Indiana (CARMEL, IN) Aug 22, 2008

First, these 'frisbees' LAST. I've purchased DOZENS of plastic flying discs only to have to replace them within a day or two. I have two Labradoodles and they love chewing things as much as catching them, the FF lets them chew some without ruining its function. Second, I completely concur with the person who wrote that the FF is a great beginner disc and to that I add it's soft material makes the initial 'misses' much easier on your dogs nose/head. Finally, the FF is fabulous for water play. They float and are easy to see. I rate the Flippy Flopper FIVE STARS. Definitely worth the money.

Great Frisbee!
Posted By: Shelley, Austin, TX (AUSTIN, TX) Apr 27, 2008

My 4 year old black lab carries two at a time! He loves the Flippy Flopper and I have to buy them in bulk so that he always has a spare. He loves to catch them in the air, and in the water, they float, but it tends to make them wear out faster than normal. Definately a great frisbee to teach your dog to catch due to its soft/durable material.

Great frisbee
Posted By: BorderCollieMom (MILLSTADT, IL) Feb 20, 2008

This soft frisbee is easy to throw and our dog just loves it. Think he has as much fun "shaking" it around after retrieving it as he does catching it. The Flippy Flopper is strong nylon material, it has held up well being outdoors and being chewed on by our border collie. Our dog really loves going after this frisbee - could care less about the traditional hard plastic ones. Very reasonably priced, holds up well and lots of fun.

Flippy Flopper
Posted By: COWGRLUP (DESERT HILLS, AZ) Jul 7, 2007

I have been buying the Flippy Flopper from walmart and my heeler/aussie mix loves this out of all the toys we have for her. she does end up chewing through the middle but then she puts it over her head. I saw this at petsmart for 16.00 i could not believe the price. This is the best price so far and they are easy on the dogs mouth. I will stock up on them at this price.

This is the best Frisbee I have found on the market and is my chocolate lab's favorite toy! It is soft and doesn't hurt her mouth so she is not afraid to jump in the air after it. It is easy to pick up and rinses off well when dirty. We use them at home and at the lake. They do wear out, but considering that we use it every day, I think they hold up well. I order the Flippy Flopper by the dozen so we always have extras to keep in the travel trailer. S. Owsley in Texas

Flippy Flopper
Posted By: spiritdogs (IPSWICH, MA) May 26, 2006

My Aussie pup just loooooooooves the Flippy Flopper! She didn't become frightened of it when she "missed" at first, since it's soft. It's easy for a young dog to get a grip to pick it up, so they don't get frustrated. You can make it fly level so that puppies don't jump before their growth plates close, but they still have a great time with it, because even if they didn't catch it, they can still pick it up and shake it - it's nearly indestructible.

Our Scottie boys love this and have not destroyed it.
Posted By: Scottie Mom (SIERRA VISTA, AZ) Apr 25, 2006

We have tried regular Frisbees and the two Scottie puppies have just bitten through them and destroyed them. The Flippy Flopper has survived about four weeks in a dog park and a little working at home in a small backyard. They love this toy. It is easy for them to pick up. And it is pretty easy to throw.

My dog is OBSESSED w/this toy!
Posted By: lablover (Pasadena, TX) Mar 29, 2006

This was my 9 month old lab puppy's first frisbee, and it continues to be his favorite to this day. It is easy for him to catch because of the soft covering-he KILLS it. He can keep up with the aussies and border collies with the Flippy Flopper. My only complaint is they seem to deteriorate fairly quickly, at least with a 60 pound lab puppy mouthing it! But the price it totally reasonable so I just bought him 3 more! This is a great disc for larger breeds who aren't quite as speedy-but love to play frisbee like the little guys! Highly recommended!

Hover Flopper!
Posted By: Pam (CARTHAGE, NC) Apr 18, 2005

The Flippy Flopper has a nice difference from other "Frisbee" type discs. If thrown high enough it will slowly "hover" down making it an excellent beginner disc for dogs just learning how to catch, giving the dog more time to size up the situation and learning to jump up to catch it! Once they get the hang of it, you can throw it low and fast if you want but I love seeing my Australian Shepard jump and twist catching it high in the air! You and your dog will have lots of fun with this toy! Sturdy, soft and you can't beat the price!
