It's soft, but not too soft to really get the dirt out and bring up the shine. My horse loves the way it feels too. Another big advantage to the brush is for me. I have arthritis in my hands and the soft, contoured handle makes using this brush comfortable for me no matter how tired my hand may get. I can't use many other brushes at all because they hurt may hands the minute I pick them up.
