They can slip down and seem a bit stiff at first, but am sure over time they will become more softer in use. Like the velcro, the strips are wide and doubled so no worries as far as opening and slipping off. I primarily bought them for a horse with arthritis in the lower joints to keep them warm on cold nights. Quicker than wrapping and easier to remove in the morning.
