I am a barefoot trimmer and I use this on all my horses. It works!!! I have tried everything and this really toughens up their soles.

This really works!
Posted By: caryledee (LEXINGTON, KY) Dec 19, 2008

I have a thoroughbred gelding with very bad feet. The first year I had him, I spent a lot of money trying to get him sound. He had abscess after abscess and was never sound enough to ride. I thought I would have to give him away. I finally found durasole and it is incredible how much of a difference it has made! Last time my farrier was out, he commented on how thick and rigid his soles were. What a difference!

Harden Those Feet Right Up!
Posted By: joharder (N FT MYERS, FL) Dec 31, 2007

Durasole is an awesome product for horses that have soft feet due to wet conditions or transitioning to barefoot. I've used it for several years mostly during the rainy season in Florida, and I've never kept my horses in for a day because it was too wet. My mare loves to stand in puddles when it's wet, and during those times, I apply it once a day. My gelding has soft soles, and I apply it anywhere from one to a few times per week depending on the time of year. Durasole has worked well for me for white line disease and chemically cleaning small cracks. It beats the copper naphthenate products because there's nothing highly toxic (to you or your horse!) in there. It smells like iodine, which is only moderately stinky. It dries within a few seconds, and the smell goes away in a few minutes unless you get it on something porous like your jeans. I don't apply it to the frog most of the time because I feel it dries it out too much. Also, don't let it drip on the coronary band as it may sting a little.
