Catchmask, This One Stays On!
Posted By: Tallylass (TALLAHASSEE, FL) Jun 27, 2012

The gnats are really bugging my horse this summer. He has a nasty habit of removing his masks. I've tried different brands and the Catchmask stays on because of the double velcro, reminds me of the similar design on no-turn ballistic boots. The color matching is great. No ear covers, and it was a bit tight around the front edge of the ears, so I'm applying a bit of fleece there to protect my horse. I'm also going to sew on a nose extension, as my horse has a white blaze that covers both nostrils. Maybe there will be a better mask in the future, but for now, this is the one that is working for us. My horse is a 6 year old Tennessee Walker who seems to get into trouble at the whisk of a tail. He is pastured with three other horses.

Catchmask
Posted By: K Ransom (Tucson, AZ) Apr 18, 2012

I just got this fly mask, so I can't testify to how long it'll last (my horse is pretty rough on fly masks), but it looks really strong and well made! It also blends in with my horse's coat perfectly (I got the bay color for my liver chestnut gelding). I wasn't expecting to get the white paint pen for coloring in facial markings, but that was a cool bonus. The paint was kind of sloppy, but there is a little paint brush on the end, so his star still turned out really cute. One thing that buyers should know is that Medium means Arabian and Large means Full/Horse (right now I'm pretty sure ValleyVet doesn't specify). I ordered a Medium thinking that it would be horse sized, because that's usually how it is. The Medium/Arabian size actually ended up fitting my horse pretty well anyway, so I decided to keep it. I have a Rocky Mountain/Morgan cross who has a pretty big head, so I was surprised it fit (although there isn't much wiggle room around the jaw), so if your horse has a finer head you may want to get the Arabian size. All and all though I'm really happy with the mask. I've already gotten a bunch of complements and it's only been a couple hours :).
