Equi-Pak CS Soft Instant Pad Material for Thrush

I bought this because it was recommended by my vet and farrier for my thin soled gelding. It seems to make him more comfortable, less ouchy, and I love that I don't have to always clean the mud out of his feet.

Equi-Pac CS is great when your horse could use a bit of protection/ cushioning plus thrush control. It doesn't adhere quite as well as the black Equi-Pac, so it's doubly important to follow directions when applying this product. Best results are obtained when hoof is clean and dry as a desert! I've used this for endurance rides & my best application was when I cleaned the hoof and lightly toasted (no burning, please!) it with a small torch (try Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.). If this method suits you, please consider your horse's opinion, and allow some training time if necessary! Manufacturer used to say it could be applied to a barefoot horse, but I found the hoof wall needed to be grown out past the sole at least 1/8" and, more importantly, flat-soled hooves give unsatisfactory results. I took my Arabian out on a rocky/sandy endurance ride and Equi-Pac CS adhered to his cupped soles for half the ride (12 miles). However, that was long enough to be of benefit and the horse did well. Great product and worth the fiddly extras: applicator gun, tips, etc.

I have used this product for several years and my horse has lmproved so much.

My horse needs the cushion support for flat feet in the back and with the Epona shoes this is the best, least expensive way to shod my pony and keep out the thrush. If it's really wet I have to add some Thrush Buster but if it stays dry, my pony doesn't have any issues. My farrier likes it for the ease of application.
