Standard Grazing Muzzle for Horses

We have used these for several yearsd for ponies who will founder in the blink of an eye. Highly recommend unless you keep yours in a dry lot.

This is the 3rd muzzle for horses that I have purchased. Like the product. Has saved my insulin resistant horse.

I buy one every year for my super destructive IR mini. Best Friends is the only one that holds up to his destruction AND stays on!

I am very happy with this muzzle. I have tried the break away kind and our horse can rub it off when rolling so when I saw this new one that would attach to her existing halter, I was excited. It has stayed on through rolling and rubbing. It can fill with dirt if they roll so checking it often is important. Our mare is still a bit frustrated that she can't get the hang of eating but hey, that is the point! Really the only thing that I wish it did have were openings for the nostrils because not being able to eat makes our mare way more active in turn out and it would be more comfortable for her if she could breathe more freely. Nonetheless, this has turned out to be an excellent purchase and easy to use and it appears comfortable for our horse.

I use this on all 5 of my horses all summer long to keep them from eating to much. I have more pasture than they need and rather than fence them in I use this product and it works really well.

This specific grazing muzzle works soo much better than the old style that I had! Its most definitely work the extra money and the time to order it.

I have these for all my horses and donkeys. These muzzles attach securely to turnout halters, and stay ON unlike the one piece halter/muzzle combinations that seem to be easily removed by the wearer. I found that if you go one size bigger than recommended, you have less resistance from the animal wearing it, and no rubbing issues. For my IR mini donk, I have 2, one as it comes from the manufacturer, and one with the hole on the bottom taped over (on the outside) with Gorilla Tape to eliminate all grazing when necessary. Excellent, excellent product.

Because TN had so much rain this year and therefore a long season of lush grass and clover, my horses were getting pretty obese. I tried the halter/muzzle combos and could not get the right fit. These work well because you only have to measure the width of the muzzle you need and put it on already fitted halters. I love that there was a cob size for my smaller QH with an arab type head. Easy for me to remove but the horses have not managed to destroy or remove. They can still eat through the hole. Only downside is that the one horse got some small rubs behind his chin so I added some fleece. I think all muzzle types can cause this though and it's better than founder.

This was my second grazing muzzle. I found that the hole in the bottom was a good bit smaller than the one in the older muzzle. Overall, though, this is a good muzzle, sturdy and functional.

This grazing muzzle has been effective in slowing down both my horses' intake. They are a much healthier weight now. I would recommend getting a larger halter than your horse wears now - for comfort. One of my horses has laminitis, so the muzzle is absolutely necessary and she has had no return to lameness since I've used the muzzle.

After several years of use of my old Best Friend grazing muzzle (on a pony who rubs his head trying to get it off), I finally replaced it with a new one. The muzzle stays on better than the kind that is built into a halter, and lasts for years. It definitely does the job of cutting down grass intake - my pony wears it half the time and stays at a reasonable weight without being put up in the stall. He can eat and drink through it, and is much less frustrated than I feared he would be wearing it. Will outlast other brands and fit better.

I am surprised by other reviews. My insulin resistant/Cushings pony has worn a deluxe muzzle all summer and his weight is excellent now. He broke one plastic clip, but they provide a spare. After wearing 10 hours a day for 4 months the area where the hole is started to crack and is getting larger so am ordering a new one. I recommend this product.

I bought this muzzle. It will not stay on. The buckles break right away. The buckles are plastic & will not hold up. I have bought extra buckles, but no use. They break right away. I have taped over them & done everything I could. Not made to use.

Hole in muzzle too big.  Does not help with weight reduction.  

I ordered wormer and a grazing muzzle and it got here FAST. The grazing muzzle works great form my insulin resistant/chronic founder pony. Instead of leaving him locked up to just get NO Exercise, he now runs all over the pasture trying to find "just right" grass that will stick through the hole in his muzzle. This thing is really working!
