Easyboot Epic Horse Hoof Boot

I had the older style of these boots from years ago with the less aggressive tread. I wanted a better tread on my boot so tried another very popular boot and ended up reselling those after one ride and ordered another pair of the easyboots. The new tread on these are a lot better in the mud and wet leaves than the older style, but can still be a little slick in a steep climb. The tight fit and gators do not allow mud and rocks into my boot. I've ridden in mud up over my boot and have never lost a boot. They are easy to adjust on the trail without having to take them off your horse and without having to bring any special tools, just need a hoof pick which I carry on my saddle anyways. I will definately be purchasing another pair for my husband's horse.

I like the fact that Easycare doesn't rest on their laurels, but constantly keeps improving their products. The new sole pattern on the Epics gives more traction in slippery conditions. Been using Easyboots for over 20 years and started using the Epics as soon as they came out. The gaiter does a great job keeping the boot on. We ride fast on woods trails, and they stay on.The Epics are a perfect "spare tire" for a lost shoe, or all around on a barefoot horse.

I recently purchased these boots with some trepidation. I trail ride most weekends ans prefer to do as little as possible in preparation. I was concerned these boots were going to add substantial effort to my tacking up but was pleasantly surpriaed at how easy they were to put on and quick. My horse is really good about lifting and holding his feet but these boots went on much easier than I thought and stayed on even through mud and water. No rubbing at all and just as easy to take off. Very happy with these boots!

Great for trail riding I'll never shoe my horses again

I've used the Epic boots for years, conditioning horses mostly at a flat walk gait on gravel/dirt roads. With gaiters, these boots are amazing at keeping that small gravel out of the boot. Other types of boots I've tried tend to load up with gravel and mar the hooves. I've almost never had one of these boots come off even though the roads can get quite muddy. When the roads get dry and hard I use insert pads. The Epic boots hold the pads firmly in place. I'm sure the horses love the padded boot combo. They step out noticably better in the gravel and keep moving comfortably for miles. For daily use I've had minimal problems with Epics. A fine horse boot, that gets the job done.

I ride quite a bit, so I wanted a boot that didn't go above the coronary band and rub flesh. Although I loved the Gloves on my last horse, they gap in front and do not fit right with my new horse's low heel hoof conformation. The Epics are forgiving in fit. I use a pad in them to snug them up, but they stay on most of the time, even in deep mud and fast gallops. I also use the quickstuds for a bit more traction; my horse slides on grass dry hard ground with another boot. My new Epics have a more aggressive tread pattern, but the traction is not as good as shoes with borium without the studs.

I had an older pair of these and through wear and tear one finally slipped off and the Horse stepped on it ripping the Gator. I ordered a new pair immediately and sent the older pair out for repair so I can use them as back up. A size 2 is just a tiny bit loose but when I pair these with the 12mm firm inserts they fit excellent. Easy to get on and off and easy to clean after each use. I will always have a pair of these for trail and road riding.

I've used Easycare hoof boots since 2000, and the Epic model is a definite improvement over prior models. However, you should expect this boot to fail once you use it on mountain trails through rough terrain (i.e. where you actually need it). They work best on mild mannered trails and gravel roads. The gaiter and the cable are both cheap gear that requires replacement regularly. You can lose the boot on the trail by having the gaiter rip completely off without knowing it (I just did it!). My horses have great hooves and ride barefoot all over and have excellent hoof shape. The boots fit perfectly and I only hand tighten the buckles. It's too bad that after so many years Easycare still can't make a boot to stand up to trail riding through the Rocky Mountains.

I bought 2 of these about 2 weeks ago because my horse's foot broke out where you nail a shoe on. I put one boot on and it ripped in the first hour. I call Easy Care and sent them a picture of the damaged boot. They sent me a new one and I haven't had a problem since. Good product and a reputable company. They did everything they could to make me happy. I will buy again from companies like Valley vet and Easy care.

After an earlier try to get the correct fit (see review of EB Trail), we thought this one was going to do the trick. It took about 10 days for our 2000 lb. drafter to rip the boot off and ruin it. This result could be more evidence of the difficulty (impossibility?) of getting a correct fit shopping online.

My mare is always barefoot in the back hooves. She got a soft sensitive spot on the bottom of her hoof and could not go on trails. I got two easy boot epics, and now she goes better on rocky trails than every before. We do plenty of galloping, cantering, and trotting on all kinds of trails and forest roads, and they stay in place and she is much happier with her boots on. Measuring before you buy is a bit tricky, so I suggest that you plan in advance (which I could not do because the mare was already off) and take the photos etc suggested on the Easy Boot web site and let them recommend the size. My horse's back hooves seemed slightly different in sizes, and slightly differently shaped (more round) than what the measuring size ranges indicate. I got one boot of each of two sizes, but had to exchange the larger boot for another of the smaller size. I have ridden with just one boot on the problem hoof, but she is so much more comfortable than barefoot with the Epic's that even now her hoof is healed I now always do trails with two of them. For arena work, I leave her barefoot behind. It took a few uses before I got good at getting the boots on. Keep a big screwdriver handy as in the notes about the easy boots, and watch some videos. On the larger of her hooves it is harder than the slightly smaller hoof. I have been out on about 10 rides in three ranging from one to 3 hours, and the boots have very little wear.

The same boots I bought years ago were $300, these I bought for $150 with the $50 discount. I should have bought more. I work at a cattle sales yard. It is vary icy in the winter. I know of 3 or more people that have ordered boots from you after they have seen how well the work on ice & cement. I have not found a better price anywhere. Thanks Dave

I've been using easyboots on my barefoot trail horses on every ride. It's too rocky to leave them barefoot. Iron shoes would ice skate all over asphalt roadways. Easy boots solved the problems. The trail boot was used on most of the hooves. One horse had fronts that were too round, and the easyboot trailboot would rotate. The easy boot epic kept them in place. I also did not have to use gaiters with the epic, as it is built right in. I have to use gaiters in the trail boots to prevent friction.

In the process of exchanging for a different size. Used chart, measured my horse's hooves right before he was trimmed and right after. The boots it said he needed were too small. Spent $12 to send them back. Will let you know if the next size up fits.

Hard time fitting my Paso Fino one size too small, next size too big. I feel that the cable should be ajustable with all the screws that are on it there should be some way to tighten up the boot thru the cable system

I live in Ohio and just about every trail has mud that will pull shoes or boots off. These have stayed on through all the mud, even clay mud. They are a bit of work to get on and take off but it's worth it not losing them! Warning...the first time I could barely get them on and thought I had ordered a size too small. I have since used them 6 times and it has become a lot easier to put them on or take them off.

My horse is barefoot, but when ridden he tends to be tender footed. So the epic boots fill the gap between barefoot and shod. We trail ride lots on all kind of terrain from rocky to sandy and the epic work great!! I have them for all four feet and they stay on without problems.

I purchased the Epics for the hind feet of my Paso Fino upon the advice of a clinician. (I have the gloves for the front feet.) Our first time out was 15 miles on gravel roads. When we stopped for lunch the clips were up. Half way back the clips must have loosen again because the boot came off one foot with only the velcro around the pastern was holding it on. The clip on the other boot was again up - not fastened. Sure glad I didn't try these out on a really rocky, muddy, creek flowing trail, I am sure I would have lost both of them.

I bought these boots for a grueling, mucky ride. They came off in the first mud crossing. Not happy with the wiring system.

I recently purchased the easy boot epics for my two horses to use at the sale barn. I don't shoe my horses but the footing there is concrete. Great product, after being on both horses for over 12 hours there's no soundness issues.
