Measurement Error: Reading below 10°C or over 45°C can cause error to occur. “Err” symbol will appear in the display followed by the unit’s signal sound for automatic shut off.

Error Operation: A flashing “Err” symbol will appear on the window display and unit will shut off after 30 seconds.

High Temperature: Display will show “Hi”>42.0°C (107.6°F).

Low Temperature: Display will show “Lo”<32.0°C (89.6°F).

Completed Measurement: Four long beep sounds.

Shut-Off: Automatically shuts off 1 minute after remaining idle, or can be manually turned off by pressing and holding the operation button for approximately 1 second.

Memory: Last completed read-out is stored in memory. Errors are not recorded.

Read-Out Modes: Instrument can be changed from °C to °F and visa versa.

Battery: Operates on 2 1.5v (AAA) batteries.

Operation Procedures:
1. Press gray button to turn on thermometer.

2. Fahrenheit or Celsius icons will flash Select F or C by pressing the gray button. If desired scale is shown, do nothing.

3. The last temperature taken will automatically be displayed, followed by two beeps and “Lo” will appear on the LCD. The unit is now ready for use.

4. Insert the metal tip of the probe into the animal’s rectum. For optimum results follow this procedure for insertion: The animal must be held still during the duration of the measurement approximately 6 seconds. The metal sensor tip should touch the inner gland wall (either side). Position the thermometer at an approximate 15 to 35 degree angle (sideways, upward or downward), which will allow the sensor tip to touch the gland wall.

5. Thermometer will beep four times when temperature is recorded (approximately 6 seconds).

6. Turn instrument off manually by pressing gray button, or it will automatically shut off when idle for one minute.

7. After use, wipe thermometer tip with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not place under running water or submerge in liquid. The unit is not waterproof and water damage is not covered under terms of the warranty.

8. Basic safety precautions should always be observed when using the thermometer.

Maintenance and Storage:
This unit is not waterproof. Never submerge in water or other liquid. Clean probe tip before or after use with cotton or swab moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Use a soft dry cloth to clean the plastic casing of the instrument. Use the following guidelines for optimum performance and longevity of the thermometer:

  1. Always store the unit at room temperature. Remove the battery from the unit when not in use for long periods of time.
  2. Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, high temperatures and humidity.
  3. Do not drop the unit. Unit is not shockproof. Sensitive electronics may be damaged by shock.
  4. Keep out of reach of children.
  5. Always operate the unit in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Keep clear of electromagnetic transmitters or appliances that may cause damage or inaccurate measurements.
  7. Each unit has been tested and calibrated at the factory.
  8. This unit should never be used on humans.
