Preg-Tone Pregnancy Detector

The Preg-Tone Series 6 Model is a safe and accurate ultrasonic pregnancy detector for swine, sheep, alpacas, goats, pygmy goats, llamas, and numerous other mammals over 8 lbs. Very high accuracy at 30-40 days gestation. Preg-Tone comes pre-calibrated for use with swine, but the user can easily recalibrate it for use with other species.

The Preg-Tone uses ultrasound waves to detect amniotic fluid during pregnancy. A short, intermittent tone indicates good contact. When amniotic fluid is detected, the instrument produces a loud, continuous tone. When used on an animal which is not pregnant, the instrument continues to produce the intermittent recurring tone.

Swine: Normal test time is 30-73 days, but testing may begin as early as 18 days.

Sheep: Testing may begin with ewe in the sitting position at 35 days, with most diagnoses made by 45 days. Testing may also be done with ewe in standing position at 60-65 days.

Goats: Testing may begin at 30-40 days.

Alpacas: Testing may begin at 30-40 days.
