For a smooth finish!
Posted By: JK in SoCal (RAMONA, CA) Aug 31, 2005
I use equi-pak on my mare's front feet (she has navicular changes). I keep these on hand for my farrier to use as he'd never heard of them before he started working on my horses. Not only do they result in a completely smooth finish (no lumps/bumps!), but they also make it easier to get the job done. As soon as the equi-pak is filled in, we slap one of these boards on and my horse can immediately put her foot down on the ground -- no need to hold the leg up for the duration of curing time! (If you have a horse with lameness issues, you know what a relief that can be!!) You can peel it off after a few minutes and admire the perfectly smooth finish. This beats using duct-tape hands down! One tip: during the winter/cold weather, keep the foam boards inside your jacket to warm them slightly -- this makes it easier to peel the paper off of the adhesive backing.
