      Although this product performs as described and meets my needs, I am very disappointed in the quality. I'm not confident that I will get many seasons of use. With more time I would have made a better choice.

      I tried this and wouldn't recommend. Hard to fill though the plug on the bottom, and you'll get yourself all wet if you don't flip it fast enough. I like metal waterers a lot better!

      This is a terrible product. It's hard to fill when there is still water in the unit. It is a very poor design. Do not waste your money.

      With nighttime temperatures dipping below freezing quite regularly now, it has been incredibly convenient to not have to replace frozen water every morning. As temps drop during the day, its great to have peace of mind that the chickens always have access to fresh water. We have found that placing the waterer on a cinder block to raise it to appropriate height is necessary as the flimsy handle will not allow for hanging the waterer. It is also a bit challenging to invert the waterer after it has been filled, especially for an older gal like me without the hand strength to invert it without loosing half the water in the process. An improvement on the design might be to create a base that is filled in place and have the dome simply act as a cover. Overall satisfied, but could be better.

      I bought this for 24 chickens in below freezing weather. First of all the handle to carry it won't support it so you have to hold it upside down to carry and you get soaking wet...freezing weather! You have to turn upside down to fill it so water spills everywhere. I would have to fill daily. Then after a few weeks of struggling with this the plastic somewhere must have cracked and it wouldn't hold the water anymore so it spilled everywhere. I called customer service and they gave me a full refund including shipping with no questions asked!! I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I told them about it! I will always shop here because their customer service is excellent !! Thank you Valley Vet!!

      I bought this because I have 37 hens and needed more water capacity to go a full day. Due to the warm weather this year, I have not used the heat yet, but when it dips to 10F I expect it not to freeze and not require me to change it midday to keep the hens with water.

      Everything it was advertised to be. Easy to fill and chickens cannot tip it over. AND I'm not chipping off ice!!! Yeah!

      I haven't used these particular ones yet, since it's August. However the other ones I had were great. The 3 gallon jugs eventually broke , but the hot plates still work. Thing is, you cannot buy just 3 gallon jugs. They make you buy new ones, but winters in New England are horrendous. Worth it.

      Haven't had a chance to use it in sub-freezing weather yet (that's why I only gave it 4 stars) but, I like it's design. I like the fact that it has a plug in the bottom instead of having to remove the bottom tray to fill it. It's outside now on an elevated surface but will probably be hung in the coop when the weather gets really cold.

      I used this item about four times, becoming very frustrated each time, before I just went ahead and purchased a better-designed option. The bucket does not easily fit into the base and you have to struggle for long periods of time to get it to squeeze in there. You also have to turn the bucket to lock it into place or to take it off the base and the turning is really hard to do. I strongly recommend not buying this item!

      This is a good water heater if you have the space and it hanges very level. For a smaller coop it is too big and difficult to remove and fill. If you could fill it from the top and not remove it; it would be better. Any tugging on the cord, which comes from the bottom, will tilt canister and the vessel will empty itself.

      I have two chicken waters and I like this one the best. Its much more sturdier than the last. The water filler is on the bottom and my only wish is that there was a heated water available with a top watering filler. This way you can bring down a bucket of water and refill it without having to turn it upside down. So far its working great and keeping my chicken water warm and ready!

      I found that to putting the top back on the base after refilling was very difficult. My advice would be to buy a waterer with a fill hole on top so that the base does not need to be removed.

      This waterer is easy to fill, doesn't tip over like the old one I had. I unscrew the bottom bung and use 2 watering cans to fill it -- works great. I like the plastic tether that keeps the bung from being lost. Just after I got it, the temps went down to 12 degrees F overnight. No ice in the waterer.

      Bought this heated waterer awhile ago from Valley Vet. I am in Canada and the temp is now -5 Everything is frozen except my chicken waterer. It works great.
