Lockout Teat Sealant Syringes

Lockout (bismuth subnitrate) Teat Sealant protects cows from new intramammary infection at dry off and is used for mastitis-preventative care. Lockout Teat Sealant simulates a dry cow’s natural keratin plugs to address delayed or incomplete plug formation by creating an antibiotic-free barrier between the udder and bacteria in the environment. Lockout is compatible with conventional dry cow management practices and is safe for use on non-lactating dairy cows and replacement dairy heifers. When using for preventative care, a herd approach to mastitis control is recommended. The compact single-dose syringe has a simple pull-off cap, short 1/2” plunger, and a larger thumbpad to make it easy to administer. Each syringe contains 4 gm of sterile, non-antibiotic, blue, smooth paste composed of 60 percent bismuth subnitrate in a mineral oil vehicle. The blue color makes it easy to distinguish Lockout from milk at first milking. Administer 1 syringe per teat. Zero-day milk and meat withdrawal when Lockout is used alone.
