The HomeAgain Universal WorldScan Reader Plus offers longer battery life, a more durable design, and faster microchip detection. The Universal WorldScan Reader Plus also reads the 125 kHz, 128 kHz, and 134 kHz microchips. It also reads all microchips utilizing the 125 kHz and 128 kHz radio frequencies (HomeAgain, AVID, and Trovan) including those that previously could not be read by all U.S. scanners. ISO compatible. Transfer data to your computer through USB cable or Bluetooth, or use with your iPhone or iPad. Proper scanning procedures:

* Scan slowly – According to American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) guidelines, microchip implantation in a dog or cat should be administered between the shoulder blades. A fast pass over the animal may miss the microchip. Proper scanning should take 10 to 20 seconds depending on the size of the animal.
* Scan directionally – Start by working across the animal's shoulders "east and west," making multiple passes, back and forth. Then work "north and south" from the pet's head to its tail, again making several slow passes.
* Scan sides and below – Sometimes, but not often, microchips may migrate to other areas of the body.
* Change arm angle – Sometimes the way you hold the microchip scanner affects whether the microchip registers on the scanner. Turn your arm 90 degrees and scan the same areas again.
* Change operator – Have a second person scan if a chip was not found the first time. Studies have shown that a different operator may find a chip missed on the first attempt.
