Founded in 1989 by llama owners Bob and Jo Riley to provide the very best in nutritional value for their animals, Stillwater Minerals is the oldest provider of "Free Choice" minerals formulated by leading experts in the camelids field. The original formula for their first product, Lama-Min 101, was developed in conjunction with LaRue Johnson, DVM at Colorado State University. With additional input from several animal nutritionists, as well as research conducted by other major institutions, the formula has been modified to meet the specific needs of llamas and alpacas, and resulted in the added development of the llama-min 102 and llama-min 104 product formulas.
Llamas and alpacas are exposed to high levels of sunlight in their natural habitat of the high mountain areas near the equator. Since North American llamas and alpacas are not exposed to as much sunlight, Stillwater Minerals contain higher levels of Vitamin D in all their supplements. Sourcing the highest grade and most natural ingredients, they combine this with Selenium (Se) in high levels and Copper (Cu) in low levels.
